If you are thinking about buying a forklift for your business there are a few things you need to consider before making that decision.

New or Used Forklift?

First, are you going to buy a new or used forklift? Obviously purchasing a used model will save you money initially, however, this is not always the case as some used forklifts have been uncared for by previous owners and can wind up costing you a lot more in repair and maintenance. With this in mind, always check out how many hours have been logged on the forklift and if a history of maintenance is available, review it carefully.

Another important aspect of buying a forklift is making sure that the people who operate it are trained to drive it. OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will require that all drivers be trained a certain number of hours, this is one of the most overlooked features of forklift safety.
