Rent Moving Trucks and Vans in South Africa
There are three certainties in life – Death, Taxes and Moving. Whether it is your home or office it is a given that you will be required to transport your goods at some point. Moving to a new location is an exciting event; however, the process of moving your goods from point A to point B is stressful and tiresome.
Finding a company to transport your goods safely and responsibly is no different. That is why it is often a better option to rent a truck or van rather than entrust your most valued possessions to a removal company that may not handle your items with the care they require.
Finding the Right Truck Rental Company
Truck rental rates vary and are often determined by supply and demand and which truck rental company you choose. Planning ahead (booking your rental truck or van early) will save you money in the long run. Most truck and van rental companies in South Africa are inclined to give you a lower rate if they know they still have surplus trucks and vans that need to be rented out before the day (or the week) is over. Try to avoid renting trucks and vans in South Africa at the end of the month as this is often the busiest period and it will be impossible to get a lower rate. This may require that you amend your leasing agreement and/or work schedule so that you can moved during the week.
What You need to Rent a Moving Truck in South Africa
Most truck and van rental companies in South Africa require a deposit before you can take delivery of their vehicle. While some companies only take credit card deposits, others will accept cash. You must ALWAYS have a valid driver’s license (code 10 for renting a truck in South Africa). If for whatever reason you (the renter) won’t be driving the rental truck yourself, then you need to provide proof that the person driving is licensed. Some truck and van rentals in South Africa require the driver be 18 years old, 21 years old or 25 years old. The person who rents the truck is responsible for the truck in the case of an accident or theft, even if someone else is driving the truck. Some companies allow more than one person to be insured if arranged in advance and/or for an extra fee.
